But how do they make it…

How are they made?

The frames are made from a combination of two types of plastics, one being an entirely recycled plastic that comes from post-consumer recycling waste and the other is cellulose acetate which is a bio-based material made from cotton and wood pulp. It’s sourced from sustainable forests and is a very eco-friendly material.

Plastic is from oil and it is a non-sustainable resource. As we all know, the Earth’s oil reserves are quickly running out, so we must find other ways to produce plastic. Recycling is one of those ways, but there are others too. You can make new products from recycled plastics by shredding old items and making them into something else (typically insulation). Or you can actually turn old plastics back into new plastic! This process works by heating up your old stuff in a reactor that creates a chemical reaction that turns your used material into polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which can then be used again to make soda bottles or other containers, or even clothing.
